Thirty years of research warns that, "cohabitation is the worst type of household for raising children." Without long term commitment to each other and to God there is no stability. |

"God's Love Doubted" - 1:1-5 After returning from Persia to their war-ravaged homeland, the Jews were suspicious about God and His love. Their faith had given way to unbelief and lethargy. God's silence was confusing because they assumed His lack of interest. The historical review of Jacob and Esau warned the people of the consequences of sin. Edom was destroyed and Israel would be blessed. What are the causes of doubt in our lives? |

"God's Named Defamed" - 1:6, 11, 14 The people sat in the sanctuary, yet did not honor God. They had a problem with authority, a tell-tale sign of spiritual rebellion. Their arrogance was nauseating. Respect had long vanished. Do we bring honor to God's name? |

"God's Temple Defiled" - 1:7-8, 10 The attitude of a morally bankrupt rebellious people made worship lifeless. If our worship is "dry" then we need to look within. Do we give God the "leftovers of our time and the junk of our possessions"? |

"God's Priests Delinquent" - 2:1-9 Jerusalem had a spiritual vacuum in leadership. The failures of sloppy pastors (priests) im- pacted the people. Religious rituals and mechanical coldness in worship took its toll on the nation. Leaders are to take seriously their duty to provide "true instruction". Is our spiritual vitality depleted as we disobey holy precepts? |
